Where the Karoo Heartbeat Meets Hospitality
This past weekend, The Calitzdorp Station proudly played host to the renowned Dryland 360NE Mountain Bike Challenge — a celebration of endurance, grit, and the unshakable spirit of adventure. Cyclists from across the country rolled into town, and The Station was ready to welcome them with open arms.
From dusk till well past midnight, our fires were lit, our team was buzzing, and the Karoo night offered the kind of calm only this region can deliver. With the scent of woodsmoke in the air and the hum of camaraderie echoing across the platform, it was a moment that captured everything we stand for: warmth, resilience, and genuine connection.
Behind every successful weekend at The Station stands an incredible team — and we cannot talk about hospitality without mentioning Elsabe de Wet and her rockstar crew. Their commitment goes beyond schedules and closing hours. Just this Sunday, after our popular Grill & Chill lunch had wrapped up, a group of hungry tourists arrived at our doors — unaware that kitchens across town had shut down for the day. What did Elsabe do? She reopened, fired up the grill, and served them with a smile. Not because she had to — but because that’s just how The Station does it.
The Calitzdorp Station isn’t just a place. It’s a feeling. And that feeling is only getting stronger.
Since the venue came under new ownership, The Station has been gaining new life. With a clear vision, a deep respect for Karoo culture, and a forward-thinking approach to hospitality, the transformation has been incredible to witness. The bar is stocked with local craft beer, boutique spirits, and a few surprises — all served with authentic Karoo charm.
And we’re not slowing down anytime soon.
Next up? The Espresso Festival on the 14th and 15th of June, hosted as part of the Calitzdorp Expressed celebrations — a town-wide showcase of Karoo flavour, flair, and fun. Expect caffeine-fueled vibes, artisanal food, and of course, that signature Station atmosphere. Whether you’re a coffee lover, a curious tourist, or just someone looking to soak in the local culture, this festival is your excuse to visit.
With ample parking, spacious accommodation, and a venue built for good times and great events, The Calitzdorp Station is ready to welcome explorers, families, cyclists, and dreamers alike.
We believe in creating more than just a stopover — we’re building a destination.
So, if you're planning a road trip, need a venue for your next event, or just want to unwind where good people and great food meet under Karoo skies, reach out. The energy is real. The passion is contagious. And the door is always open.
The Calitzdorp Station — where stories are made, and strangers become friends.
